Alternative Oil Filters

Having just purchased a used 03' SV650S and needing to change the oil, I did some research to find the best filter (or a least a good filter) for a good price. Research showed that Suzuki gets about $12 for theirs which seemed high to me. And being frugal decided there must be a better (cheaper) solution. On the Svrider site I found the list of compatible filters and proceeded to try and find the best for the least. Maybe you've already seen www.twocreeks.net/toby/oil_filters/index.shtml , but if you haven't it's worth a look. The author disassembled a number of filters ostensibly for a Honda (I think Honda uses the same filter for every bike) and inspected and commented on their efficiency and construction. He also has some suggestions on oil as well. I went through the list of filters that received two thumbs up and had a devil of a time finding any. K & Ns (rated high) were in the $11 to $12 range, so no cost advantage over Suzuki ones. I did however find Emgo filters at a company call www.MFGsupply.com (800 826-8563) for $5.75 each. Emgo's p/n is 10-55660 according our site list of compatible filters. MFG's p/n is 5703-0650 for the SV.
